When the bit is taking excessive weight and the penetration rate has just about stopped moving.
It’s time to use the New Thomson tech, Bean baggies, the only bit sharpener on the market.
There is a couple of ways the Baggies can be used.
If bits polished during a run and core is in the tube.
 
Backing off the bit to be off bottom 5 to 8cm.
Keeping in mind that you must break at a joint and that you are restarting with core in the tube.
Once off bottom and Kelly rod is off or water swivel.
Drop one or two TT bean baggies down the open string. The number will change depending on the size. E.g., P= 3 baggies H= 2 baggies and N = 1 bag.
Repeating procedure may be required.
The tube is still seated and has core in it. The bean baggies will dissolve, and the bit sharpener will past through the back and down past the tube and core lifter case.
Reconnect and start pump as if you gently seating a tube.
Use the same time it takes to seat the tube to pump the bean baggies down.
Stop pump and waited 2 minutes.
Slowly lower drill string until tag bottom.
Mauver head until total drill string weight is on the bit.
With water pump off. Very slowly rotate drill string at 10 RPM for 30 seconds.
Pull of bottom.
Start drilling with standard procedure. Ensuring pump is on.
 
 
 
Bit’s polished and the tube has been pulled.
 
Keeping the bit off bottom from 20 to 30cm.
Dropping or lowering new tube. Once released
Drop one or two TT bean baggies down the open string behind the tube.
Reconnect and start pump as normally seating a tube.
When the tube has seated. The bean baggies bag has dissolve, and the bit sharpener will past through the back and down past the tube and core lifter case.
Stop pump and wait 2 minutes.
Slowly lower drill string until tagging bottom.
Lower head until total drill string weight is on the bit.
With water pump off. Very slowly rotate drill string at 10 RPM for 30 seconds.
Pull of bottom.
Start drilling with standard procedure. Ensure pump is on.
